The Road to Russia
The Road to Russia is undoubtedly a long and testing process which requires much skill, determination and indeed unbridled talent. This week The Rock stood up to the plate and undertook the task of hosting this years World Cup. Undoubtedly the greatest football event to be seen in recent times, The Rock has, over the last week, hosted some matches which will go down in history. The Icelandic 'filmmaker' goalie has nothing on the action here with numerous penalties, full pitch runs by a goalie, some beautiful foot work and a bloody nose or two making our week quite rememberable.
A special word must be said for our referees, linesmen, scorekeepers and our over all adjudicators who worked tirelessly to keep the show on the road.
The following are the squads who's skill and talent brought them here. Twelve teams, four groups and two semi-finals all came down to this. After a tense semi final which went to extra time we gathered for the nail-biting finale. Morocco, down to five men (and women), fought tooth and nail to hold Saudi Arabia scoreless but alas it must not be and we ended the battle of the year with a 2-0 scoreline.
It is safe to say, it was very much a clash of titans!
